Hamman received the award at the national ceremony held on Saturday, 3 October, says the station.

In addition to hosting the biggest youth breakfast show in Mzansi, Hamman also delivers some of 5FM's biggest national moments, cementing his impact on South African youth culture. His recent annual 5 Breakfast Heritage Tour — celebrating a full decade of discovery this year — once again took listeners across the country, spotlighting local stories, communities and food. He also spearheads initiatives like the viral 5FM War Cry Challenge, a nationwide celebration of school spirit and creativity that brought thousands of young South Africans together on air and online.

Through 5 Breakfast, Hamman has consistently blended a mix of South African music, news, storytelling, national pride and youth engagement — using radio to inform, inspire and move audiences across Mzansi, adds the station.

Through Hammy Eats, which averages around 30-million video views a month, Hamman tells the stories of independent South African food businesses and connects them with new audiences. The platform has helped generate millions of rand in business for small and emerging food entrepreneurs across the country. Hamman shares the recognition with Co-Founder JD Mostert, the Hammy Eats team and the businesses and viewers who have supported the platform.

Hamman says, "I'm incredibly grateful to be named a Forty Under 40 South Africa winner in Media (Digital and Social). I'm proud to do this work both on 5FM and through Hammy Eats, where we tell the stories of South African food businesses and help more people discover them. We've helped generate millions of rand in business for independent businesses across the country, and that impact is what means the most to me. Thank you to my Co-Founder JD Mostert, our team, the businesses who trust us with their stories, and everyone who watches and supports the work."

Masi Mdingane, Business Manager for 5FM and Good Hope FM, concludes, "Nick is an on-air and social media powerhouse with a massive heart for South Africa. He celebrates Mzansi, its people and its food with infectious passion, and he uses his platforms to change people's lives for the better. His win reflects the impact he makes every single day and we are incredibly proud of him."
