National Press Club Awards

At the 2026 NPC-UNISA Journalist of the Year Awards, eNCA claimed the Television Features category, with journalist Pule Letshwiti-Jones and veteran crime journalist and anti-crime activist Yusuf Abramjee winning the award jointly. The winning body of work was built on high-stakes, public-interest journalism: coverage of the murder of Marius van der Merwe, the raid on the home of Lieutenant General Shadrack Sibiya, and exclusive interviews with key newsmakers linked to the Madlanga Commission. It was reporting that kept matters of public accountability in focus, says the channel.

In a significant recognition for multilingual broadcast journalism, eNUUS journalist Eugenie Gregan claimed the NPC-UNISA Journalist of the Year: TV News award.

Future of Leadership Awards

The same week saw eNCA personalities recognised at the 2026 Future of Leadership Awards Gala Dinner, hosted by the Future Leader Forum.

Dan Moyane, anchor of South African Morning and affectionately known as Bra Dan, received the Media Leader of the Year: Lifetime Award. A journalist and broadcaster whose career spans more than four decades, from his work as a BBC foreign correspondent in the 1980s through his leadership at Talk Radio 702 and Primedia Broadcasting to his years as an anchor at eNCA, Moyane was inducted into the MTN Radio Awards Hall of Fame in 2010 and is widely known in the industry as The Media Elder, adds the channel.

Uveka Rangappa received the Media Leader of the Year: Social Impact Award. A journalist and anchor with 30 years in broadcasting, Rangappa currently anchors eNCA's South African Morning on weekends. Her career has taken her from reporting from post-war Iraq to interviews with heads of state, while her work on public-interest issues, including food security, speaks to the contribution recognised by the award.

In a notable distinction, Yusuf Abramjee was honoured twice in the same week. In addition to his joint NPC-UNISA Television Features win with Letshwiti-Jones, he received the Community Leader of the Year Award at the Future of Leadership Gala, recognising three decades of work as the Founder of Crime Line, Vice-President of Crime Stoppers International, and one of South Africa's most recognised voices in crime prevention and public safety, says the channel.

eNCA News Director Lukhanyo Calata says each of the awards was well deserved.

"We are incredibly proud of our team. The fact that organisations like the National Press Club and UNISA could award them like this is proof of the journalistic excellence produced at eNCA. We congratulate and encourage them to raise the bar even higher," says Calata.

Together, the five honours mark a significant week of recognition for eNCA and eNUUS, across both journalism excellence and broader media leadership, concludes the channel.
